With Couture Fashion week behind us, heads turned toward Stockholm fashion week last week, with Swedish designers showcasing their lasted Autumn/Winter (AW) 2013 ready to wear collections. The fashion week saw collections from Back, Cheap Monkey and from the H&M Design award winner Minju Kim, however I have to say that my favourite of all was Dagmar.
Sofia Wallenstam, Kristina Tjäder and Karin Söderlind are three sisters from Sweden who started the label in 2005. With each of them specialising in a particular area (design, marketing and PR) they were deemed for success, and are Europe’s answer to the New York Moves Power Women. Their magic combination ensured that their AW13 show did not disappoint.
The collection was strong powerful and feminine, with the sophisticated designs, and high quality feel, which was nice to see in a ready to wear collection. The winter colour palette consisted of black, tan, blues and deep purple. The furs and wooly jumpers used are always nice to see in an Autumn/Winter collection as we all love to wrap up warm, and I love the patterned trousers! It is well known that the sisters take inspiration from their late grandmother, and from the collection it is easy to see she was one fashionable lady.
Many of Dagmar garments are hand knitted or consist of some sort of hand made detail, which makes you to admire the collection even more knowing the detail and care that has gone into the designs. I have no doubt we’ll be seeing more from Dagmar.
Until next Week!
